About

Dissent lets you chat on Discord from a Linux desktop without opening the official app or a browser tab. You can read and send messages with Markdown and custom emoji, browse servers with folders and categories, and upload or download images and files.

It is built with GTK4 and libadwaita, so it looks at home on GNOME. It favours simplicity and speed over matching every official feature: voice chat is left out on purpose. You can switch between chats with tabs or the quick switcher, and restyle the interface with your own CSS.

Highlights

  • Markdown and custom emoji in text chat
  • Tabs and a quick channel switcher
  • Restyle the interface with your own CSS

Who it's for

Good for Linux desktop users who want a light Discord client for text chat.
