Why

Open source projects are written and updated by independent people, who can change their code or release a new version at any time, after our last check. We list and explain; the software and its risks remain with its authors and with whoever installs it.

What our indicators mean

• License: the license declared by the project, checked against its repository on the date shown. Read the original before reusing or redistributing.
• Health: which basic checks passed (maintenance, releases, documentation, basic security files). It is not a security audit and does not mean “safe”.
• Install commands: generated from fixed templates for official channels. A command is not a guarantee that the package is genuine; check the source.
• Descriptions: written by us from public material; they may contain mistakes.

Before you install

• Use the official source linked on the listing and avoid copies on other sites.
• Check the signature or checksum when the project publishes one.
• Read the license and the permissions the app asks for.
• Keep a backup and, if in doubt, try it in a virtual machine first.

Something looks wrong?

If a listing links to harmful, infringing or unofficial software, tell us. We assess reports within 10 working days and suspend the listing within 24 hours for security threats.
