About

Unison keeps two copies of a folder in step, even when you change both of them. The copies can sit on different computers or on different disks, and you can sync a Windows laptop with a Unix server. Changes that do not conflict are passed along automatically, while conflicting ones are shown to you.

It runs as a normal user program, usually over ssh or directly over TCP, and sends only small updates of large files. A repeat mode with a filesystem monitor syncs changes soon after they happen.

Highlights

  • Syncs changes made on both sides
  • Works between Windows, macOS and Unix systems
  • Repeat mode syncs soon after changes happen

Who it's for

Good for people who edit the same files on a laptop and a server and need both copies kept up to date.
