About

Find old terminal commands fast with a full-screen search that replaces ctrl-r and the up arrow. Each command is stored with its exit code, directory, host, session and duration, so you can filter by session, directory or everywhere.

Atuin keeps your history in a SQLite database and leaves your old history file in place. Optional sync between machines is fully encrypted, and you can use the hosted server, run your own, or skip sync. It supports zsh, bash, fish, nushell, xonsh and PowerShell, and can show statistics such as your most used commands.

Highlights

  • Full-screen search replaces ctrl-r and up arrow
  • Logs exit code, directory, host and duration
  • Optional end-to-end encrypted sync

Who it's for

Good for people who live in the terminal and want to recall past commands across sessions and machines.
