About

Helix is a text editor that runs in your terminal. It uses modal editing in the style of Vim and, more closely, Kakoune, where you select text first and then act on it. Multiple selections let you edit several places at once.

Language server support is built in, and tree-sitter provides incremental syntax highlighting and code editing. It is written in Rust and available through Flathub and Homebrew. Keymaps are documented on the website.

Highlights

  • Vim-like modal editing
  • Multiple selections
