Black is a Python code formatter that rewrites whole files in place in one consistent style. You give up hand-formatting details and get speed, predictable results and smaller diffs, which makes code review quicker.
Few style options exist on purpose, so code looks the same across projects. After reformatting it checks that the code still means the same thing, unless you pass --fast. Install it with pip on Python 3.10 or newer, add the jupyter extra for notebooks, or download a standalone executable.
