About

MonitorControl lets you change the brightness and volume of an external display from your Mac, using menu bar sliders or the keyboard, including the native Apple keys. It shows the native macOS on-screen display when you adjust.

It talks to monitors over DDC and uses Apple's own protocol for Apple and built-in screens. Software dimming through gamma control, and a shade for AirPlay, Sidecar and Display Link screens, cover other cases. You can also set custom shortcuts, sync several displays with one slider and dim to full black.

Highlights

  • Menu bar sliders and Apple keyboard keys
  • Hardware control over DDC plus software dimming
  • Sync several displays with a single slider

Who it's for

Good for Mac users with an external monitor who want to adjust it with the keyboard keys they already use.
