About
Praat is a tool for studying speech on a computer. You can analyze pitch, formants, intensity and voice quality, view spectrograms and cochleagrams, and create high-quality pictures for publications.
It can also synthesize speech from a pitch curve and filters, change the pitch, intensity and duration of existing utterances, and label samples with IPA annotations. Further tools cover statistics such as principal component analysis and discriminant analysis, plus learning models for grammar. A manual is built in under Help.
