About

Browse, preview and organize files without leaving the terminal. Yazi supports multiple tabs, selecting files across directories, and scrollable previews for images, videos, PDFs, archives, code and folders, with Vim-like controls.

It is written in Rust and uses asynchronous I/O, so long operations run as tasks with progress updates and can be canceled. You can extend it with Lua plugins and themes installed through a built-in package manager, and it works with ripgrep, fd, fzf, zoxide and Rclone. It also offers remote file management.

Highlights

  • Previews for images, videos, PDFs, archives and code
  • Tabs, Vim-like keys and cross-directory selection
  • Lua plugins and themes via built-in package manager

Who it's for

Good for terminal users who like Vim-style keys and want to browse and preview files without a graphical app.
