Zettlr is a Markdown editor for notes, articles and longer texts. It connects to reference managers such as Zotero and JabRef for citations, and exports through Pandoc and LaTeX, with Word template support, to whatever format your school or employer asks for.
Your notes stay private on your computer. Full-text search helps you find things, snippets automate boilerplate, and the Zettelkasten method is supported. You can change themes, use dark mode or add custom CSS, and the interface comes in over a dozen languages.
