About
Launch Linux virtual machines from the command line, with automatic file sharing and port forwarding, similar to WSL2. You can run Linux commands, or run containers using containerd, Docker, Podman or Kubernetes.
Lima started as a way to bring containerd and nerdctl to Mac users, but it also works for non-container applications and on hosts other than macOS, such as Linux and NetBSD. You can set it up with Homebrew. Tools like Rancher Desktop, Colima and Podman Desktop build on it.
Highlights
- Automatic file sharing and port forwarding
- Runs containerd, Docker, Podman or Kubernetes
- Works on macOS, Linux and NetBSD hosts
Who it's for
