About

MediaMTX is a server you run yourself to publish, read, proxy, record and play back live video and audio streams. A stream sent in one protocol can be watched in another, for example from a camera over RTSP to a web browser over WebRTC.

It supports Media-over-QUIC, SRT, WebRTC, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and more, and works with FFmpeg, GStreamer, OBS Studio and VLC. It ships as a single executable for Linux, Windows and macOS with no dependencies. Extras include user authentication, a control API, Prometheus metrics, hot configuration reload and recording to fMP4 or MPEG-TS.

Highlights

  • Converts streams between RTSP, WebRTC, SRT, HLS and more
  • Records streams to disk and plays them back
  • Single executable for Linux, Windows and macOS

Who it's for

Good for people who want to share camera or OBS streams with browsers and players from their own server.
