About

This is a rewrite of the standard GNU command-line utilities in Rust, built to run on Linux, macOS, BSD, Windows and WASI. The aim is a drop-in replacement, so the same commands and scripts behave the same on each system.

Output and exit codes are meant to match GNU exactly, and any difference is treated as a bug. In a terminal, a mistyped argument gets a compiler-style error with a caret; scripts still receive the plain GNU message. Some options may still be missing. Ubuntu ships it by default since 25.10.

Highlights

  • Runs on Linux, macOS, BSD, Windows and WASI
  • Aims to match GNU output and exit codes
  • Compiler-style errors in a terminal
